The Mayor Councillor Colum Eastwood has paid tribute to the organizers of the Irish Walled Towns Day celebrations held in the city centre over the weekend.
“Despite the somewhat inclement conditions at times, this did not deter those who attended the range of events which were organized to celebrate the city’s walls. The two day festival offered a host of activities for young and old and extended an opportunity to both locals and visitors alike to explore our historic walls in a fun and exciting manner.”
The two day celebrations took place as part of the Heritage Council of Ireland’s Walled Towns Celebrations and offered a wide-ranging programme including treasure hunts, live music, street performances, falconry and a Seafood Festival.
The city’s Irish Walled Towns Day celebrations were organized by Derry City Council’s Economic Development section.
