Witness the Smallest Cinema in the world in Guildhall Square

20/08/2010

Visitors to this weekend’s Irish Walled Towns celebration in the city will get the chance to take in a movie at the world’s smallest cinema the ‘Mini Mogul Cinema’.

Small-cinema-(1).jpgThe ‘Mini Mogul Cinema’ is presented by the Nerve Centre and 15 Second Film Festival in guildhall Square between 11am and 5pm this Saturday and Sunday, a local audience will have an opportunity to watch some unique films about the city's walls and characters in the world's smallest cinema.

This small but perfectly formed, two-seater itinerant Art-Deco Picture Palace is a unique opportunity to view films produced by the award winning Nerve Centre. The Nerve Centre was most recently involved in the Voices film used the secure the Derry~Londonderry City of Culture status.

The Mini Mogul Cinema spends the majority of the year touring around the European film festival circuit and was the brainchild of Peter 'Magic' Johnston, of the 15 Second Film Festival has been testing the human mind's capacity for boggling since 2005.

Annoyed with those bladder-straining, buttock-aching movies that often last for two, sometimes even three hours, Peter formed the 15 Second Film Festival and created the mini mogul cinema to screen these films. Rediscovering the century-old thrill of enthralment through beautiful micro-short films is the essence of the 15 Second Film Festival experience.

It really is a cinematic experience like no other.

As part the All the Wall's a stage animation programme funded by Derry City Council, NITB and European Regional Development Fund, the Nerve Centre decided to partner with the 15 Second Film Festival to bring the Mini Mogul Cinema to the city.

Dont miss the opportunity this weekend to enjoy a cinematic experience like no other.

The Mini Mogul cinema is just one of fantastic programme of events taking place in the city this weekend as part of the Irish Walled Towns Day celebrations further information on the weekend’s events can be found on www.derrycity.gov.uk/economicdevelopment and clicking on walled towns day.
