Me, Myself, I aims to examine self-identity and self-image of older LGBT people through the medium of photography. The subject of self-identity and self-image as we grow older is one that we all face with time and it can be a hard enough transition but as noted before older LGBT people, it can be more complex.
The theme of self-identity is explored in the exhibition through the medium of photography in a series of four assignments: ‘A Self Portrait’, ‘Transitions’, ‘My World and My Dreams’. The project has been developed by the Workers’ Educational Association, Northern Ireland’s largest voluntary organisation providing community education for adults under their Learning Age Project for the over 50s. The project has been facilitated by professional photographer Emmett McSheffrey.
