Derry~Londonderry will echo to a new beat as the world’s leading drum corps come to the UK City of Culture for four nights in August for the Walled City Tattoo staged fittingly on the parade ground in the former Ebrington barracks.
The Walled City Tattoo will showcase both international and local talent with the world’s leading drum corps, Top Secret from Switzerland, performing their phenomenal routine as part of the 90-minute production. In all, a 500-strong cast will include performers from Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, Tanzania, Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
The Walled City Tattoo will combine the pomp, ceremony and grandeur of traditional Tattoo events with a special Derry~Londonderry twist and will see music, song, theatre and dance come together for performances inspired by the rich heritage of the city.
The Walled City Tattoo line-up will also feature The Crossed-Swords Pipe Band, Afrikan Warriors, Sontas, various mass brass and melody flute bands and Highland and Irish Dancers. The ever-popular age old tradition of the Massed Pipes and Drums will also be performed comprising a spectacle of over 100 pipers and drummers from counties Tyrone, Donegal, Fermanagh, Londonderry, as well as pipe bands from Newcastle upon Tyne and Germany.
